Despite the fact that some people may not particularly enjoy reading, they do not have to miss out on any of the potential advantages. Thankfully, we now have the option of audiobooks, which allow users to listen to their favorite books while they’re running errands or enjoying a bubble bath.

The world's largest producer of audiobooks and spoken-word entertainment, Audible aims to satisfy our desire for great books on the go. But is the price worth it? 

How Does Audible Work? 

In 1995, Don Katz established Audible as an Amazon subsidiary. At the moment, Audible is the biggest producer and distributor of audiobooks and other forms of spoken-word entertainment. In addition to audiobooks, Audible offers audio versions of radio and television shows, newspapers, and magazines. Audible's library contains more than 425,000 titles as of this writing. Because it is an Amazon company, it has access to nearly every book on the planet, which gives it a big advantage! You can easily search the Audible library by category (there are currently 26), lists and collections, or featured content. 

How Audible Functions 

You can download one free Audible audiobook and listen to it on multiple devices using the Audible app during a 30-day free trial period for new members of Audible.

Pro Tip: Many users reported that they did not receive an email confirming whether they wanted to keep the account. If you want to stop using the service and not be charged, you will need to set a reminder to cancel it! 

If you choose to continue after the trial period, you will be billed for a subscription service, depending on the plan you select. 

You get free access to Audible original podcasts, an exchange option, and a 30% discount on additional audiobook purchases with each plan. The following is a list of the differences: 

Gold Monthly: This basic plan costs $14.95 per month and provides one Audible credit that can be used to purchase an audiobook. You will receive one credit each month as a subscribed member, which you can use to purchase one book at any price. 

Gold Annual: For $149.50 per year, you can pay for the entire year with this plan, which gives you 12 membership credits that you can use within a year. 

Platinum Monthly: You get two credits each month with this monthly plan. 

Platinum Annual: You get 24 credits every year with this plan. 

Audible Channels: Only Audible original podcasts are available with this plan. Gift subscriptions in lengths of three, six, or twelve months are another option. 

Credits that you don't use for the monthly plans are carried over to the following month, but they only last for one year.

Since this is one of the difficulties associated with using Audible, you should ensure that you keep track of your credits to avoid losing them on their one-year expiration date.

The App for Audible 

The Audible app's navigation is extremely user-friendly. The ease with which you can switch between menus and pages makes it much simpler to access thousands of titles. Subcategories like Wish Lists, Pre-orders, and Browse are also included. 

The app comes with easy-to-read text, customizable toggles, and a Dark Mode for easier use at night.  The website also has a basic search bar and an advanced search option where you can narrow down your results by author, title, publisher, or narrator.

Is Prime access to Audible free? Since Audible is owned by Amazon, you might be curious as to whether Prime members can download it for free. The good news is that Prime members can get a free selection of Audible audiobooks, but the Audible subscription does not come with it.

However, if you subscribe to Amazon Prime, keep an eye out for events like Amazon Prime Day. On special occasions, Prime members receive substantial discounts on Audible memberships.

 Is Audible membership a good investment? 

If you actually use your Audible subscription, it can be worth it, just like a gym membership. After all, you will receive an audiobook each month at a price that is lower than what the majority of audiobook retailers charge. You can store your audiobooks in your library so that you can listen to them later if you are unable to do so right now. 

However, if you don't use the monthly credit and forget about it, you may reach the point where the credits expire (after a year), which would result in a significant amount of money being wasted. 

If you can only listen to one or two books per month, Audible is the best option. Because Audible doesn't let you buy more credits, if you go over that, it might end up costing a little more. Instead, you must purchase the subsequent book at the discounted rate of 30%.
